mum and baby

This Program is a key strategy of the South Australian Breastfeeding Program (SABP), providing online access to current breastfeeding information for a range of users. The SABP is hosted
by the Centre for Health Promotion (CHP), Women’s and Children’s Health Network on behalf of SA Health.

Since its beginning in 2005 there has been a series of improvements to the content, accessibility, and reporting aspects of the program and approximately 9,500 registrants have accessed the program. There has been increasing increasing interest from registrants across Australia and overseas (US, UK, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Honduras and Qatar).

Access

  • Registrants have 12 months access.
  • Log in from any web accessible device.
  • Many registrants access in combinations of individual and group learning from both the work place and home.
  • Some users supported with individual and group study days by their employers to access the site information and discuss the content and implications for their practice with peers.

Get StartedThe content is supported by an Editorial Reference Group (includes lactation consultants, Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) assessors, an Australian Breastfeeding Association representative, Midwives, a Medical Officer, a pharmacist and representatives of the various health networks in SA). It is written to meet the needs of a diverse range of users from various organisations across Australia and includes the information required to meet the staff educational requirements of BFHI hospital and community accreditation. You will find many direct access points throughout the program to useful print, video/DVD and web based resources.
